Biography

My interest in photography started early. It started in my early teens, grew through the years, and evolved into a passion. A passion to get to places and capture enchanting images of nature. Both landscapes and wildlife, painted in dramatic colors with natural light, fill my portfolio. My photographic opportunities increased when traveling while employed for several telecommunications companies and living in several different cities and regions throughout the United States. Over the years, it turned into an obsession to be always seeking the next image.

I have traveled to all 50 United States and several countries. I was born in New York and was raised in Maryland with some lasting Northeastern culture. However, I am a Texan at heart, I've been here over 30 years. With that said, I don't think twice about a photo trip ANYWHERE !!! There are beautiful places in nature to be seen anywhere in this World. I will do my best to see them all before I'm done. : o)

My images include some of the most recognizable icons in nature to some of the more obscure locations. Although my passion is natural light, mostly donned in sunrises and sunsets, my stock includes abstracts, birds, fall colors, flora, formations, infrared B&W, insects, marine life, national and state parks, patterns, structures, waterfalls, and wildlife.

I have shot images in both film and digital media. I have shot in all formats: DX, 35mm, medium (6x6 cm and 6x7 cm), and large (4x5 inches). I predominantly shoot a Fuji GFX 50S, digital medium format (44mm x 33mm) camera. I also shoot a Sony a6000 DX APS-C (23.5mm x 15.6mm) camera. For infrared images, I shoot a Sony A7R II, full frame (35.9mm x 24.0mm) camera. I use Carl Zeiss, Fujinon and Sony glass in my lens choices.

Courteous, expert, professional, and timely service is what I offer. I will consult, train, go on assignment, and shoot most work by appointment. I will also consult and train in Photoshop. Whatever your photographic requirements may be, please contact me here at Jack Castine Photography (jack@jcastine.com).

Caveat: I do not shoot wedding photography, sorry. Also, when it is dark or rains, I watch Hockey.
